Jet Black StudioRecently I've opened up a zazzle store . At first I thought it was pretty straight forward, I knew nothing about direct to garment printing but was looking to make and sell t shirts online. I started doing some research after I uploaded my first few designs and slowly I learned more and more about what you could and couldn't do with zazzle. I ended up having to take down and redo quite a few of my original products due to flaws in the designs. That has lead me to create this lens, shedding some light on the problems I've come across while creating and uploading my art to zazzle. I've tried to put the answers to the questions I had when I first started out all contained here in one lens, it's a lot of reading but I hope you all get something out of it. I'll be trying to revise and continually update the lens when more stuff comes up/ suggestions are given so be sure to check in every once and awhile! Chris How to: Making Basic Designs for ZazzlePfft. Do I have to?True, there are hundreds of different ways to go about doing your pre press work before setting up your zazzle store but I wanted to take a little time to go over one specific way, my way! First there are a bunch of things you need to think about before jumping in, that is unless you want to make a bunch of junk you'll have to go back through and delete after the first few dozen returns by customers. I haven't had anything returned yet, but I did have to go back through and delete several hours worth of product creation work to upload new correct images. One major thing to keep in mind while using zazzle is you have to do most things correct the first time, or you could suffer some big setbacks. After your product has been up for awhile getting recognized by search engines, building a zazzle marketplace rating and has been linked on dozens of sites, you do not want to delete that entry or you'll have to start from scratch. Major Bummer. I wont be going over how it is I create my art, that's kind of irrelevant. What matters is what happens once your art is all finished and ready to be printed on your products. Now, the problems I'll be going over may only affect you if you if you print on dark apparel clothing, otherwise the problems I'm going to go over wont really affect you and you may get pretty bored reading this. So just saying, you've been warned! Ok, so what's so special about the ink you may be asking. Well it's not what special things the ink can do, it's what it cant do and that's print transparently. Why you may be asking? Uh well, duh, ink isn't transparent! What this means is that any pixel on your image that doesn't have 100% opacity won't be printed! This can play a big roll in your designs even before you start designing them. This pretty much eliminates any design ideas you have where the image slowly fades to nothing around the edges, every image has to have a defined edge. So much in fact that even the anti aliased pixels on the edges of crisp line art can be a problem when printed on dark apparel. I'll get back to this problem a bit further down in the guide but first let me tell you about a few other conditional rules we need to make sure to pay attention to. When printing on light color shirts/clothing/items any white or very light colors in your image will be treated as being transparent, all you'll see is the t shirt where those colors were supposed to be. This is sort of demonstrated in my image above. (All three of these images are the same file) The first image is of the design on a plain white t shirt, nothing looks too out of the ordinary but it gets more apparent as you move on down the line. The second image is on a yellow shirt. As you can see the color of the shirt comes through the image and influences the color of the design, this happens with all light colored t shirts that aren't pure white. The last image is of zazzles "dark apparel" which uses a slightly different printing method for the darker fabric color. As you can see the color WHITE is not transparent and can be used as a printed color on this "dark apparel". Which means that the white border line I had around my work now shows up where as before it was invisible. This is an option you can turn on when using this dark apparel and it's something important to remember because you can't change it after you post the item for sale. It's also a good idea to turn this option on even for light color clothing if you don't restrict apparel color choice because people can change the color of the shirt to something dark. Make sure you uncheck this box on ALL PRODUCTS that could be printed on dark apparel. (Or any future products zazzle may make that will print in the same manner)See my image below for a better idea of where to look for this option: Speaking of that white layer printed on dark apparel, that leads me directly into what I talked about originally. Remember how I said transparent pixels wont be printed on your products? When an image is printed on dark apparel, to make sure it shows up saturated and not dark, a layer of white ink is printed first on the cloth in the exact shape of your image [just as a big white shape] then the color image goes down on top of that. What the above image illustrates is the phenomena where zazzle excludes printing of pixels that aren't 100% opaque. See all the pixels on the outside edge of my black line? They're in varying sates of transparency, while the transparent pixels are not printed down onto the fabric they are however taken into account when the initial white layer is printed. A transparent pixel is never the less still a pixel, whatever pre press program zazzle uses still counts these as "being there" and a little white square will be printed where that pixel is when the initial white layer is done. Now I've reading conflicting reports on both zazzle help pages and the zazzle forums with outcomes ranging from nothing happening at all, to white borders being unintentionally printed around their entire design. Seeing how easy this problem is to fix there is no excuse for not just fixing it in the beginning and making designs that work around this issue. I'm not one to take chances with my work. I'd like to know how things are going to print out and control that to the best of my ability. Alright then, so now what? Well the easiest way to solve this problem is to just do what the DTG printer zazzle uses is going to do when it prints, only your doing it in Photoshop and your not necessarily going to keep the color white. What I did to make the white shape was quite simple. This works best if you have your Photoshop preferences set to have the normally white document background set to be the little checkerboard blocks like I have. (Photoshop uses theses to denote transparency.) This can be changed in your transparency and gamut settings. First you open your document then go to Image > Duplicate. This way your working in a copy and wont mess with your original. (Make sure to have any background colors or background layers you don't want to show up in your image turned OFF before moving to the next step. the layers of the template document showing the instructional text, ect.)Now go ahead and flatten the visible layers down to one layer. (This can be done by going to your layer pallet right clicking on one of the layers then selecting merge visible or going to the layer menu and selecting the same thing. You want to be sure to use merge visible to keep the transparent background. Don't use flatten image)Then use the magic lasso tool, making sure to turn off contiguous and anti alias. (in the little tool options bar that appears just under the file, edit, ect,). (Select > Invert, then Edit > Fill) You should have a solid color shape of your overall image. If you zoom in all the way the edge of the white it should be the shape and size of your visible image but have none of the transparent pixels, they should be all filled in like the image on the right: To finish it off what I would do is go to your layer pallet, turn on preserve transparency for the white shape layer. (this layer should be under your color layer) Now grab your paint brush, go around and sample the colors from the edges of the image and paint the edges of the white layer to match the colored image. This way you don't get that white halo around everything that we're looking to avoid. If you have a black line around the image or keep your line art on like I do then just fill the "white shape" black to begin with. You should make sure to go around the outside edge and just clean up any stray pixels, do this with the lasso tool. (making sure to have no feather or ant alias on.) Even on white border images like the one below I still did this method for the exact reason I stated above where sometimes you may have stray brush strokes and you want to make sure there aren't any huge white lines sticking out from the white border, better safe than sorry. Just spend the extra 15 minutes. Like anything you should order at least one of your own products to see how they turn out rather than leaving it up to potential customers to find it out for you. In particular the kids lace ups. I assume I'll be able to cut the image up to put on the other types in the future, but I decided to do the kids first because you can print over the toe area of the shoe. [unlike the men's hi and low tops.] I wanted to just post a how to of sorts. Now I am by no means a zazzle proseller, I've only been using the site for a short time but I have been working as a digital illustrator for 5+ years. I have yet to see a real life pair of my own shoes so I can only go by what they look like on the screen. Zazzle says their DTG work prints out more saturated, so I can only imagine they'll print as shown on the layout screen only with a deeper color. This is my best attempt to make a half decent pair of shoes, I hope this little guide helps you guys when making your own designs. Ok, so I started out with this idea in my brain for a pair of shoes clad in armor with overlapping plates of metal. I wanted the color scheme to be simple and for the most part monochromatic, something I could easily colorize into many different colors. They turned out pretty much how I wanted them too, but it wasn't as easy as just starting to draw then slapping down my creamy smooth pixel paint job. Chapter one: And then there were image TEMPLATES! Ok so zazzle is great, they provide you with these easy to use templates that presumably give you a file (PSD) with a marked off area that your image will go in. Now, this seems pretty straight forward, and it is. So rather than rocking slowly in the corner curled up in a ball like I usually do I had to figure out a solution. Ok, so I admit it. It's to the point where the images you make wont fit correctly on the shoe sections and you'll get all these lame looking white spaces and gaps. It may not matter for most designs, but if your trying to make an image that carries from one panel of the shoe to another, good luck, unless you know what to do. 332083 435 Air Jordan 1 23501 Levi Denim Pack ,Nike Kobe 9 Low EM XDR Black Red Nike Kobe 9 Low EM Fluorescent Green 528896 101 Air Jordan 11 Low White Varsity Red Air Jordan Spizike Challenge Red 384664 160 Air Jordan 6s Carmine 2014 Women Size Air Jordan 14 Low Light Graphite Air Jordan 6 Rings Venom Green 332550 002 Air Jordan 1 Retro High Black Black Anthracite 378037 117 Kids Air Jordan 11 Legend Blue White Black Legend Blue Two time major winner Rory McIlroy insists he has learned lessons from a difficult year which has seen him fail to register a single victory. However, the Northern Irishman refused to comment on rumours about his private life which claim he has split from tennis star Caroline Wozniacki. A poor run of form at the start of the season coincided with the confirmation of McIlroy multi million pound switch to Nike and so far he has only had one top five finish in 2013 a year after topping the money list on both sides of the Atlantic. There have also been issues off the course as well as in addition to his relationship with Wozniacki he has changed management company with a court case to follow as a result. The 24 year old believes his disappointing form is golf related though and he thinks it has all been part of a learning curve. "I learned a lot this year," he said ahead of his appearance at this week Korea Open. "I was under golfed for the first three to four months. If I had to do it all over again, I probably have played more at the start of this year, just to play my way into the season a little better. "This is the first year that I struggled as a pro. It the first year I didn live up to my expectations. Coming off the back of such a good year 2012, it always tough to emulate that. "This year is a little bit of a disappointment, but I still got six tournaments left this year to finish the year strongly and get some momentum for 2014. 332083 435 Air Jordan 1 23501 Levi Denim Pack, jump to contentmy subredditswhat's this?TROPHY CASEI no Jordan Brand expert (I like some of them, but don own a pair), but I pretty sure that only a select few of the models and colorways are released in limited quantities to retailers on certain dates throughout the year, so you cannot, as far as I know, just get any pair of Jordans at retail price at your timely convenience like you could with a pair of Chucks. I think the alternatives are buying from resellers who raise the price a lot, wait another few months or even years for the shoes you want to re release in retailers or drop online at retail price, or run the risk of getting ripped off with fakes looking for someone to sell for a reasonable price. Of course it depends on how popular the shoe wanted by the consumer is, but even the less popular models/colorways aren really sold all year round like regular, non hyped shoes. Again, not entirely sure, so take with a grain of salt, I guess. And for the record, I don think it worth it, but I could see waiting in line being the best option if getting J is your hobby or you just have to get a certain pair. Remember, people wait in line for products/services they could get any time, so for a limited thing, it makes sense. Vulpes is an exception to the rule. Prior to becoming head of the Frumentarii, he fought so well in the military that he took the rank of Decanus. He was rewarded a position in the Frumentarii when he disobeyed his Centurion during battle and executed a wise tactical maneuver that lead him to capture a tribe chief. We know he had a decent military career and his accomplishments (especially Camp Searchlight demise) show his tactical competence.

If you've thought about trail running, perhaps even researched some local trails, and then wondered how suited your road running shoes were to the task, the following may shed some light on your situation. Most runners ask whether they really need trail running shoes at all. The fact is, while you can for a time get away with a running shoe in a trail environment, you are courting injury in the form of a twisted ankle or bruised toe, not to mention putting a real pounding to shoes that are not up to the task and will become useless soon, on roads or otherwise, anyway. Your best bet is to invest in one of the few pieces of equipment required for running trails, and be infinitely more comfortable and safer in the long haul Long distance.
